Cream & turquoise

It seems that everything I buy lately is cream and turquoise/light aqua. I justify the purchase and say that "it's for my "someday beach house." It reminds me of seaglass and well-loved, light beach cottages.

The realization came when I placed this adorable beat up vintage car ($2) on top of my $5 cream stool. The color combination simply makes me happy.

Here is my .25 cent aqua jar with a white azalea clipping. It sits on the windowsill above my sink. Amazing how only .25 cents can bring simple beauty.

Englishtown Antiques & Used Furniture

It's not pretty but well worth the trip. In honor of Earth Day, I decided to save the environment one pie tin at a time! I believe that Englishtown Antiques & Used Furniture was a former grocery store. It is now chock full with Estate sale goodies (silverware, glassware, furniture, books, lighting, clothing, etc, etc). One must dig but treasures are sure to be found.

I told you, not pretty...

White milk glass - looks "yummy" as a collection.

Here are my "finds"...a white, chippy stool for only $5

Pie tins galore. I bought 12 of them for Miss B's cowgirl party - only $5.00

Big & small wooden bowls. Very "western"...perfect for Miss B's cowgirl party. Total: $2.10

Small "windowsill" bottles. Too cute.

So, go save Mother Earth and visit Englishtown Antiques and Used Furniture. Reuse!

Pink cowgirl boots!

Sometimes it pays to get up early on a Sunday morning...

Aunt Chrissy and I hit the local flea market where I found treasures for Miss B's cowgirl party. PINK cowgirl boots - PERFECT...and only $5.00! I will slide vases into them and fill them with daisies for centerpieces. The orchard baskets will be loaded with pink mums. The green glass jug (I'm almost embarrassed to reveal) I picked up off the side of the road. "One man's trash...is another's treasure." Happy Sunday...

Dinner with friends...

Miss B and I spent a beautiful night having dinner at the home of our friend's, Amanda and Michael. Their lovely home is filled with sweet children, furry animals and is surrounded by green gardens. Michael is currently seeding his square foot garden which will soon produce fresh herbs and luscious vegetables. We can't wait to dine with them again when all the "yummies" arrive.

They have a creative and talented household. Amanda was an actress and you might recognize Michael as he is a Tony Award nominee. Broadway, Off-Broadway, film and tv...he does it all. He's acted on Law & Order, 30 Rock, West Wing and Rescue Me.

A&M ~ Thanks for having us over...it's always a delight.

A space for herself...

I met Peggy Loundy years ago when we both worked as waitresses at good old Barney's Fish & Chips in Seaside Heights, NJ. We worked the summer breakfast shift - early, very early!! Barney's owner, Mike Loundy would later become her future husband. Even then...over mugs and mugs of coffee - it was apparent that she had style. Fast forward to the January 2010 issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine which features Peggy's open air get-away overlooking Barnegat Bay. Yum! What a great place to blog, read or simply watch the sun set...

Although it’s ultimately her space “to read, watch movies, have a glass of wine, and watch the truly spectacular sunsets,” the kids have started to use it too. “It’s a little oasis for all of us,” Peggy says.

Score!

I was out early doing errands this rainy Friday morning. I came across these adorable sandwich boards destined for the landfill. Their previous owner was happy to see me take them (for free!) to re-use. They're just screaming for chalkboard paint. The uses will be endless - Miss B's parties, yard sale signage, etc. etc.

We've had a busy week thus the reason for few blog posts...will have an even busier weekend. See you on Monday ;-) Have a great weekend.

Happy Easter!

It doesn't get any better than this Easter! The weather was perfect. Food was yummy and egg hunt was fun. I would write more about it but I am "egg-hausted" (I know...a bad joke).

Aunt Chrissy arrives and being the "Queen of Staging" - adds this chair for more punch.

And the egg hunt begins - clue:

There is an egg hanging in a tree,

if you find it… you can have it for free.

clue:

A swing looks like a chair in the air,

Go to it now, you'll find an egg there.

clue:

We all have an angel that looks over us,

Find one now and make a big fuss.

Easter prep

We're having Easter brunch here this Sunday. So, lots of "Easter prep" going on. Miss B and her friend, Miss JR colored eggs. I thought they would make adorable place cards. Sweet, "Springy" and simple...

Stole this idea from Martha - dry colored eggs on 4 standing pins stuck into styrofoam.

The Easter bunny worked on Miss B's basket - hidden until Sunday...
